No voices can be heard during a conference
If you have joined a conference already in progress and cannot hear any voices, the following causes are likely:
Incorrect audio device selected
Make sure VideoMost application utilizes the proper audio device, via application menu -> Settings:
Go to Multimedia tab to find out which audio device is currently selected for audio playback.
You are also able to modify system audio playback settings via control panel: "Apple" -> System settings (or "System settings" pane at the bottom) -> Hardware -> Sound. Select the required audio device.
Audio volume is muted
Volume control is available both within VideoMost application and via the system volume control slider.
In VideoMost application menu, go to Preferences -> Multimedia.
Make sure the selected audio device is not muted. If the device is muted, unmute it.
You can also access the system volume control via volume icon on the top pane.
If no volume icon is present on the top pane, go to the control panel: "Apple" -> System settings -> Hardware -> Sound.
Make sure that correct audio device is selected on "Output" tab and the device is not muted. If your audio device's volume is too low, adjust it with the volume control slider.
Video conferencing data transfer port is blocked on your computer
Please contact your system administrator and explain that you need open ports for RTP protocol.
Voices are too quiet
If voices of the conference participants are too quiet, increase your speakers' volume.
Volume control is available both within VideoMost application and via the system volume control slider.
In VideoMost application menu, go to Preferences -> Multimedia.
Check current volume. If your device's audio volume is too low, adjust it with the volume control slider.
You can also access volume control via the standard system utility. Go to the system volume control: Top pane -> volume icon or "Apple" -> System settings -> Hardware -> Sound.
Make sure that volume control for the proper audio device is displayed: go to "Output" tab and make sure the proper device is selected. Increase device volume with the volume control slider.

Noise effects interfere with a conference
Echo, howling, and other noise effects may occur due to audio devices functioning incorrectly for one or several conference participants.
To solve this problem, try to modify audio hardware settings or reposition audio devices as described below.
If you hear echo while speaking, the problems probably originate in other participants' audio hardware, so they should try to modify their audio hardware settings. Correspondingly, if other conference participants hear echo and noises while speaking, the problem probably originates in your audio hardware, so you should try to modify your audio hardware settings.
Modify one parameter at a time. Keep the conference running and keep talking to check if the porblem was solved.
- If external (not builtin) speakers and/or microphone are used, try to move them away from each other. It is not recommended to aim the microphone toward the speakers.
- Reduce the microphone's volume: go to the control panel: "Apple" -> System settings -> Hardware -> Sound. Go to "Input" tab and reduce the volume via the volume control slider. Avoid moving the slider too far to the left; in this case, nobody will be able to hear you.
- If the problem persists, change the speakers' volume. First, try to reduce the volume. If the problem still persists or the volume is too low as it is, increase the volume.
- If the noises still persist, restart the conference.
Poor voice quality
Multiple copies of VideoMost application may be running (or multiple video conferences are open in the browser).
Close all extra copies of the application and the browser.
Port used by VideoMost for data transfer may be blocked
If a port used by VideoMost for data transfer is blocked, the system cannot establish a direct connection and is forced to reroute data packets. Due to the longer data travel time and increased data losses, resulting audio quality can suffer. Please contact your system administrator and explain that you need open ports for RTP protocol.
